National Sorry Day Bridge Walk

Soward Management is so honoured to be coordinating and managing the National Sorry Day Bridge Walk 2024 on behalf of Winnunga Nimmityjah Aboriginal Health & Community Services Ltd and the Healing Foundation.

National Sorry day is held annually on May 26 to commemorate the tabling of the "Bringing Them Home Report" in Federal Parliament on 26 May 1997. The report captured the findings of the National Inquiry into the Separation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children from their families.

One of the Inquiry's most confronting conclusions was that no Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander family had been left unaffected by the impact of policies of child removal and the trauma of the Stolen Generations.

It is extremely important for everyone to show their support and respect for our Stolen Generations and all are invited to join community for The Bridge Walk across Commonwealth Avenue Bridge at 10am, with the walk to commence at 10:30am. A Welcome to Country, Smoking Ceremony, food, live performances and cultural activities will be provided for all.
